Frequently Asked Questions
What are the advantages of a sustainability label?
A recognized sustainability label, which is checked by an accredited auditor, ensures reliability. It’s a ‘must’ for organizations that want to express their commitment and don’t want to lose or miss out on customers / guests.
In addition to the companies that choose for certification to contribute to a better world, these are the largest advantages:
Cost savings: by saving waste, energy, water, etc. you save costs.
Besides, the EED-audit obligation (partially) is no longer necessary at several sustainability labels.
Better image: according to TripAdvisor, ‘eco-leader’ hotels have a higher review score with an average of 7%.
More guests, both business and leisure: 33% of all Dutch companies exclude hotels without a sustainability label from overnight stays by employees. In addition, 87% of travelers consider sustainability as very important.
Satisfied employees: Employees prefer to work for an organization that shows more involvement. Labels are increasingly looking at good terms of employment, health & safety and (personal) development of employees.

What problems can I encounter without consultancy?
Without consultancy, the certification process can be difficult and time-consuming. Common mistakes and problems are:
- Wrong interpretation of the criteria and insufficient knowledge of sustainability
- Submititng incorrect information / data
- Miscalculation of the amount of preparation time
- Incorrect use of online audit systems
- No guarantee of data retention (knowledge and data are lost in case of staff turnover or illness)
Is it possible for a monumental building to meet the requirements for a sustainability certificate?
Yes! There are many monumental buildings in the Netherlands and this sometimes results in limitations for sustainability measures. For example, it’s not always allowed to place solar panels on the roof and there are often less possibilities for renovations. However, a sustainability label is still possible. In fact, for example at Green Globe, a monumental building is even rewarded because of the preservation of cultural heritage! In addition, the standards that can’t be achieved due to legal limitations are not applicable. It’s therefore definately possible to gain a sustainability certificate, even when a building is not built according to the latest (energy-saving) standards.
Is it possible to combine sustainability with luxury for hotels?
Yes! In fact, Green Label Service has many customers in the luxury 4-5 star hotel category. We understand that guest experience and comfort is always priority. Fortunately, that’s easy to combine with a sustainability label. We’re happy to inform you about the possibilities.
